Membership Renewal

Membership fee due no later than November 30th of each year and covers the period 1 January through 31 December of each application year.

MEMBERSHIP FEES:

In-House Counsel employed in Bermuda (advising company or business on Bermuda law): 

Membership fee: Admitted to the Bermuda Bar (under 10 years $850) (over 10 & under 20 years $950) (over 20 years $1, 050)

Practising Certificate fee: $25

Total due: Fee + $25 = ($875) or ($975) or ($1,075)

 

Barristers & Attorneys employed with a Bermuda law firm:

Membership Fee: Admitted to the Bermuda Bar (under 10 years $850) (over 10 & under 20 years $950) (over 20 years $1, 050) 

AML/ATF Fee $500 (per attorney) 

Practising Certificate $25

Total due: Fee + $25 + $500 = ($1, 375) or ($1, 475) or ($1, 575)

 

Registered Associates employed with a Bermuda law firm: 

Registered with the Supreme Court of Bermuda (under 10 years $850) (over 10 & under 20 years $950) (over 20 years $1, 050)

AML/ATF Fee $500 (per Registered Associate)

Total due: Fee + $500 = ($1, 350) or ($1,450) or ($1, 550)

Newly employed Registered Associates landing in Bermuda on, or after 30 June shall pay 1/2 of the requisite annual fee ($675) 

 

Pupils admitted after 30 June of each year receive a 50% discount rate: 

Membership Fee: Admitted to the Bermuda Bar (under 10 years $425) 

AML/ATF Fee $250 (per newly admitted pupil) 

Practising Certificate $12.50

Total due: $425 + $12.50 + $250 = ($687.50)

 

*Barristers & Attorneys who regularly conduct approximately 500 hours of Legally aided work annually qualify for a discounted member fee rate (subject to confirmation from the Legal Aid Office) 

 

SPECIAL PRACTISING CERTIFICATES ISSUED SUBJECT TO PRIOR APPLICATION AND BAR COUNCIL APPROVAL:

Fee payable to the Bermuda Bar Association to issue a Special Practising Certificate for a hearing before the Commercial Court, or on any appeal from Commercial Court, without Legal Aid shall be $2,000 per each such hearing or application to the Department of Immigration, with a further fee of $350 per application for any additional hearing coming out of the same matter thereafter and which are subject to Bar Council prior approval. 

 

Fee payable to the Bermuda Bar Association to issue a Special Practising Certificate for Criminal matters shall be $250

CERTIFICATE OF GOOD STANDING: $200 (additional copies if requested at the same time cost $25). Certificates available to past and present members which include Registered Associates.

 

CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION AS A PROFESSIONAL COMPANY: Initial application $750. Annual renewal fee $250 (Certificate expires on Dec 31st of each year)
